Pro tip: when friends bail, is it better to fly solo or sit at home mad?
Last Friday my two buddies canceled on our trip to the lake near Austin, and I sat there at 6pm with a packed cooler and a full tank of gas. One side of me says go anyway, because the plan was really about me getting out of the house, not about them. The other side says it feels weird doing stuff alone, like a grown man eating a sandwich next to an empty chair. I ended up driving out there solo and sat on the dock for three hours watching people haul in catfish. Honestly it was kind of great, but I also caught myself checking my phone every ten minutes like they might show up late. My sister says solo plans are the whole point of this group, my roommate says canceled means canceled and you just reset the day. So which is it, do you go anyway when the group falls apart, or do you call it and stay home? I want to hear how other people handle the first 20 minutes after a bail, because that part is the worst.

Why do you care if it looks weird to eat alone? I read somewhere that most people don't even notice you, they're too busy with their own stuff.
