PSA: I bought a $40 ticket to a comedy show in Cleveland and the headliner canceled an hour before doors
So last Friday my buddy and I had tickets to see this comedian at a club in Cleveland, and we were already parked and walking up when the venue posted that the headliner was out sick. Ngl we stood there for a minute just staring at our phones. Instead of driving home we walked two blocks to a diner that was open late and split a $14 plate of pancakes and talked for like two hours. Honestly it turned into a better night than the show probably would have been. Now I keep a running list of stuff to do near any venue I buy tickets for, just in case. Has anyone else had a show cancel at the door, and what did you end up doing instead?
Honestly keeping a whole list of backup stuff feels like a lot of work for something that barely ever happens. Most shows go on fine, and if you're always planning for the letdown you kinda kill the fun of just showing up. Sucks that yours got canceled, but I'd take the pancakes as a lucky one-off, not a reason to prep for disaster every time.
