Stayed home after my backpacking trip got rained out and tried two different ways to organize my gear
I had this 3 day trip planned to Mount Rogers but the forecast showed thunderstorms all weekend so I backed out Friday morning. I dumped everything out on my living room floor and realized I had two totally different packing methods sitting there - the big stuff sack where I just shove everything in versus the smaller dry bags where I sort things by type. The dry bags won by a mile even though they take more time upfront because I didn't have to dig through my whole bag to find my stove or my rain jacket. Has anyone else had a last minute cancellation lead to a better system for next time?
