The entire weekend trip to Asheville got called off because my friend's car broke down.

We ended up just walking around our own town and found this tiny bookstore I'd passed a hundred times, it was actually way better than the drive. Anyone else have a canceled trip turn into a cool local find?

But a broken car is a pretty rough way to find a good meal. I'd rather just ask around or look it up online. Getting stuck seems like the hard way to do it.

Wait, your alternator died and you just... found a diner? How does that even work? Did you push your car there while it was smoking? My alternator went last year and I was stuck on the side of the highway for three hours waiting for a tow. I got a cold gas station sandwich, not a good meal.
