TIL a random convo with a cashier made me rethink my whole day

I was stuck in line at Target after my dinner plans fell through, and the cashier just said 'maybe the universe is giving you a break.' It hit different because I'd been stressing about canceling, but she made me realize I don't always need a backup plan. Has anyone else had a stranger drop some simple wisdom like that?

Wait, @robinf51 you had a cashier ask you five times if you found everything okay? That's almost impressive in its own weird way, like they were testing your patience on purpose.

Yeah that reminds me of this one time at the hardware store where the guy at the register kept telling me "have a good one" after every single item he scanned... like 12 times. I was just standing there nodding and smiling like a broken robot. By the end I was starting to wonder if he was trying to hypnotize me or something.

oh man that reminds me of that time i was having the worst day ever and this old dude at the grocery store told me "the line moves faster when you stop staring at it" lol i was like okay grandpa but like he was actually right? i stopped checking my watch every ten seconds and suddenly my cart was full and i was out the door. but for real though universe giving you a break sounds way nicer than my cashier who just scanned my stuff and asked if i found everything okay five times lmao. sometimes you just need a random stranger to say some simple stuff that actually makes you pause. bet you walked out of there feeling a little lighter even if your dinner plans were dead.
