DAE check the smoke shelf on gas log sets or is that just me being paranoid
Did a job in Fall River three weeks back on a vented gas log set and the homeowner mentioned a faint smell in the living room, so I pulled the logs and found the smoke shelf packed with soot and a bird nest the size of a softball sitting right above the damper. Turns out the last guy who serviced it just vacuumed the firebox and called it done, never looked up past the damper. How many of you pull the logs and check that shelf on every gas call, or do you just brush what you can see?
