Dropped $400 on a magnetic sweep system, total bust

I mean, the magnet kept grabbing soot dust but missed half the creosote chunks on a 2-story flue in Akron, took forever to clean up after. Anyone else tried those magnetic rigs and gone back to basic rods?

Saw a guy on a chimney sweep forum say the magnets work okay on straight flues but anything with a bend turns into a nightmare, sounds like you hit that too in Akron. I stuck with the old rods after trying one of those once, less fancy but way less cussing involved.
