Dropped my rods down a flue in Evanston and had to fish them out with a magnet on a string
Was doing a standard sweep on a two story place in Evanston on Tuesday and my 3/4 inch rods slipped right out of the chuck and went all the way down past the smoke shelf. Could not see a thing down there so I taped a magnet to some paracord and spent 25 minutes dragging it around blind. Finally snagged the last rod section and pulled the whole train back up, but not before I knocked a pile of soot loose onto the lady's hearth rug. Now I check the chuck tension before every job. Anyone got a better trick for fishing dropped gear out of a flue?

Been there with the dropped rods, it's the worst feeling watching them just slide away into the dark. Soot on the rug is just adding insult to injury, glad you got them back at least.
