Finally got the old Victorian on Maple to draw properly after three visits

The owner called today to say they had their first smoke-free fire in a decade, all because we switched from a standard brush to a poly whip for the final pass. Anyone else find those whips make a huge difference on those tight, historic flues?

Honestly, I thought those whips were just a gimmick. Seeing it work on a stubborn flue like that changes the whole game for me. Guess I owe the supply house guy an apology.

My supply house guy still laughs about the time I called his best brush snake oil.

Wesley's story is a classic. We've all been that guy, calling a tool snake oil until it saves our butts on a job. The brush whip is a perfect example, just like @the_joseph saw. It looks silly until you're staring at a flue packed with years of junk and that thing just eats through it. Makes you wonder what other "gimmicks" we're all sleeping on that actually work.
