Just saw a report that 25% of chimney fires start in the flue liner, not the firebox
I was reading a safety bulletin from the CSIA website yesterday, and that stat really hit me. It means a quarter of the time, the main danger spot is higher up than we might check first. I found it because a customer in Springfield asked me about liner cracks after their inspection. Now I'm double-checking every liner, even on quick sweeps. Has anyone else changed their routine because of a specific number they read?

That stat is a real eye-opener for sure.

Totally agree with you @nancy817. I saw a deep dive on this last week that broke it down even further. The numbers get way more shocking when you look at the year over year change. It's not just a weird blip, it's a clear trend that's been building. Makes you question a lot of the common assumptions people have about this whole situation. Really changes how you see the news reports.

Ever notice how the grocery store feels emptier but the prices keep climbing?
