My chimney camera cable frayed and snapped halfway through a job in Boise yesterday.

I had to finish the inspection with a mirror and a flashlight, which took an extra hour, so what's your go-to backup plan when a key piece of gear fails on site?

Duct tape and a prayer, always in the truck.

But what's the one thing you've actually fixed with it that you're weirdly proud of? Like, I used a strip to hold my side mirror on for a whole winter. It's the weird, half-broken stuff that really tests the tape-and-prayer method.

My old vacuum cleaner's hose split open a few years back. Wrapped the whole thing in duct tape, and it actually created a better seal than the original plastic. That thing ran for another two years until the motor finally gave out. The tape repair outlived the machine it was holding together.
