Overheard a sweeper in Nashville say I'm cleaning my dry vents too often
Guy at the supply house said I'm wasting time doing a full dry vent clean every third job instead of checking with a camera first. Has anyone else cut back on frequency and not run into issues?

Is this the kind of thing where it really varies a ton by the house though? I've been doing it the same way you do for years, every 3rd job with a full clean, but a buddy of mine convinced me to try his method of just hitting the visible stuff unless there's a problem. I ended up getting a callback 2 weeks later on a house that looked perfectly fine. So now I'm back to being paranoid and doing it my old way.

That "looked perfectly fine" part is the issue, you need to measure static pressure to know what's really going on.

My uncle whos been doing this for like 20 years told me some dryer vent guy on a podcast said most fires come from houses with really long or kinked runs, not dirty ones. So if the run is straight and short, maybe a camera check is fine, but I still overdo it on the old houses with weird layouts.
