Quick lesson: trying to clean a flue with a shop vac and pool hose

Tied a pool hose to my shop vac to reach a tricky flue bend last Tuesday, ended up sucking a bat out of the damper and chasing it around the living room for 20 minutes. Anyone else had wildlife join the job unexpectedly?

Wait, you think that's a bad thing? Sounds like you just got a free pest control service and a good story out of it. Bats eat mosquitoes and bugs, so that one probably wouldve been hunting in your living room for a while anyway. Plus, that pool hose trick is genius for tight flues, even if it did bring an unexpected guest. I'd say you came out ahead, honestly.

Bats actually eat way more than mosquitoes, they'll snatch up moths and beetles too lol. But yeah, free pest control is a solid way to look at it, even if the delivery method was a bit chaotic.
