That one flue that took me 8 hours to figure out

Ran into a 7 inch terracotta liner last Tuesday that kept snagging my brush no matter what angle I tried. Turned out the previous guy had shoved a chunk of broken tile down there about 15 years ago that wedged itself in a bend. Has anyone else wasted a whole day on a single flue that should have been a 30 minute job?

Man it's wild how often stuff like that happens... it's like the universe has this weird rule where things settle into hiding for years and then boom, you're the one who has to deal with it. I've noticed it with old houses too - you pull up some carpet and find three layers of linoleum from the 70s underneath, or you open a wall and find a mystery pipe that someone just left in there. It's like every problem just waits for the right person to stumble on it. Your tile chunk was just biding its time.
