Vent: found a cracked crown tile on a job in Salem and caught it with 10 minutes to spare
I was up on a two story brick place in Salem last Friday doing a standard sweep and brushing out the smoke shelf when my rod tapped something loose near the crown. Pulled a chunk of cracked flue tile out by hand, about 4 inches wide, sitting right where the next fire would've baked it. I stopped the job, showed the homeowner photos, and wrote it up as a Level 2 before anyone lit a match. How do you all handle a homeowner who wants to just keep burning after you flag tile like that?
