Blew $80 on a heated blanket that barely works

I picked up this Sunbeam heated throw from Target last November and honestly it's been a letdown. The heat distribution is super uneven, like one spot gets scorching hot while the rest stays cold. I've washed it twice following the instructions and now some of the wires feel bunched up. Anyone else run into this with heated blankets or did I just get a dud?

Man that sucks, especially for 80 bucks. I had a similar issue with a cheaper one from Walmart where the wires shifted after one wash and it started making these weird crackling noises when I laid on it. Never buying another one unless it's specifically made to be washed without ruining the heating elements.

That crackling sound is the wires arcing, it's a legit fire hazard.

My buddy bought a Sunbeam one from Target last year and after two washes it smelled like burnt plastic every time he turned it on. He just uses it as a regular blanket now lol.
