Cotton vs fleece throw blankets, the fleece lost hard

Honestly I used to be all about those super soft fleece throws for napping. Thought they were the coziest thing ever for like 5 years straight. But last winter I grabbed a 100% cotton woven throw from a thrift store for 8 bucks and it changed everything. The fleece would make me sweat after 20 minutes and it got all pilly after a few washes. This cotton one breathes way better and still keeps me warm without feeling like I'm in a sauna. Has anyone else gone back to basic materials and found they work better for actual sleeping?

I saw a post online about how fleece traps heat because it's plastic based, and that actually makes a lot of sense now. My cotton throw lets me move around without waking up sweaty or tangled up. It's just a better fabric for sleeping, plain and simple.

Wait, have you ever tried sleeping in a fleece onesie? I did once at a friend's cabin and woke up feeling like a baked potato. It was awful! Fleece is cozy for like ten minutes, but then it's just a sweat trap. I switched to cotton sheets a few years back and never looked back. They breathe so much better, and I don't wake up all twisted in them either. Cotton just lets you move around without fighting the fabric all night.
