Fleece blankets lose their softness after 3 washes. Stop recommending them.
Everyone raves about fleece but my $25 throw from Target turned stiff and pilled by month two. I washed it on gentle with cold water too. What fabric actually survives a couch nap without turning into sandpaper over time?

Honestly, that sounds like user error, not a fabric problem. Tumble dry low for 10 minutes after washing and your fleece stays fluffy for years, trust me.

Tbh, does that actually fix the pilling though? I'm genuinely asking because I've got a few fleece throws that went fuzzy and rough no matter what dryer trick I tried. The softness might bounce back for a day but the actual fabric texture seems wrecked for good. What's your secret for keeping the fibers from matting down in the first place?
