Had to pick between fuzzy throw blankets or a weighted one for my couch setup

I went with the weighted blanket because I figured I could always add a fuzzy layer on top if I got cold. Now I sleep through my afternoon naps way better, but the cat refuses to sit on it since it's too heavy. Anyone else's pets hate their weighted blanket?

My cat does the exact same thing. She'll sit right next to it but won't step on it. Ended up getting a cheap fleece throw to drape over one end so she has a spot, works pretty well for both of us.

That "sits right next to it but won't step on it" part is exactly what my cat does too. But I gotta say, the fleece throw trick only works for about a week with mine. She figured out real quick that the fleece was just covering the same thing she doesn't like. Now she'll sit on the fleece but only if it's hanging off the side and not touching the heating pad at all. Kinda defeats the purpose. I think some cats just have a thing about that specific texture or warmth level. Maybe yours is more chill than mine though.

Yeah, the fleece thing wearing off that fast sounds about right. Cats are smart, they figure out tricks quick. It's like how we put a blanket over a chair to protect it, and the cat still knows the chair is underneath. They just have this way of cutting through our cleverness. Maybe it's not about the texture or warmth itself, maybe it's about the principle. Like they're saying "I'll pick my own spot, thanks." It kind of reminds me of people too, how we all have stuff we just get weird about for no real reason. Sometimes you just can't force a fit no matter how you dress it up.
