Mentioned my weighted blanket to my mom and she laughed, said we just used heavy quilts in the 80s
She told me her old quilt from my grandma weighed almost 25 pounds and kept her pinned down all winter, and now I wonder if we just rebranded something our grandmas already invented.

Betting your grandma's quilt was basically one of those gravity blankets from an infomercial, just with more crochet and less Instagram ads.

Grandma's quilt is for warmth and comfort, not stress relief or sleep therapy. People have been piling on regular blankets for decades without needing a fancy weighted one to fix their anxiety. You can't really compare a handmade heirloom to something sold on a late night shopping channel as a cure all. Next thing you know they'll claim the crochet patterns have special calming frequencies or something. It's just a blanket, folks. Not a medical device.
