My cat claimed my new weighted blanket before I even got to try it

So last week I finally caved and bought this 15-pound weighted blanket from Target, thinking it would be my ticket to the perfect nap. I set it up on the couch, all nice and cozy, and went to grab a glass of water. Came back three minutes later and my orange tabby, Mochi, was sprawled dead center on it, purring like a motorboat. She has never shown any interest in any other blanket I own, not even the fuzzy ones. I tried to gently move her and she gave me this look like I was committing a crime. Now it's basically her blanket and I have to negotiate couch space with her if I want to use it. Has anyone else had a pet completely hijack their napping setup like this?

Flip the script here - have you thought about how this might actually be a compliment? Cats are picky about where they sleep because they're scanning for the warmest, safest spot. Mochi basically gave your blanket a five-star review by claiming it that fast. You could look at it as her trusting you to provide the premium cozy real estate. Maybe buy a second one for yourself and see if she still prefers yours?

Idk if it's totally about trust, cats also just pick the spot that smells the most like you. That's usually the warmest part of the blanket too, since your body heat is all over it. So it's less a review and more them going "this smells like my person and it's warm, good enough." Still a compliment in a way though.
