My favorite napping blanket finally gave out after 15 years

I had this old fleece throw from Target that was perfect for couch naps, soft as anything and just the right weight. Last Tuesday I pulled it over me and felt a big tear right down the middle, must have been washed too many times. I spent the afternoon trying to patch it with some fabric glue, but it just didn't hold. Has anyone else had luck finding a replacement for a blanket that old, or am I just chasing something that doesn't exist anymore?

Oh absolutely, I went through this exact thing with a flannel shirt I had in college. It was this faded red and black one that fit perfect and had this super soft worn in collar from years of wear. When the elbow finally gave out I tried patching it but it was never the same, ended up just keeping it in my trunk as a emergency blanket for road trips. Sometimes you just gotta admit when something has run its course even if it hurts.

Man that's rough, losing a blanket that's been with you through 15 years of naps is like losing an old friend. I've totally been there with my favorite hoodie that finally gave up after a decade of abuse. Sometimes you just can't recreate that exact worn in feel no matter how hard you try.

Oh man, totally agree! I actually read somewhere that our brains form these weird emotional attachments to objects like blankets and hoodies because they become tied to specific memories and feelings of comfort. It's like that worn in feel is basically the physical reminder of all those good times. I wonder if we could somehow like document the texture or weight of it before it fully falls apart, you know, as a backup for nostalgia's sake. But yeah, nothing beats the real thing though, that's for sure.
