Spent 2 hours on a pillow fluffing hack that made it worse

I got this shredded memory foam pillow last month and it kept going flat. Read some forum tip about putting it in the dryer with tennis balls. Tried it, and 45 minutes later the foam was clumped in weird lumps and the pillowcase seam started ripping. Now I spent another hour trying to break the clumps apart by hand. My neck hurts and I'm just using a folded throw blanket tonight. Has anyone actually fixed a lumpy shredded pillow without buying a whole new insert?

And yeah, the tennis ball trick only works for down or feather pillows, not memory foam. I learned that the hard way too. What actually helped me was pulling all the clumps out, spreading them on a clean sheet on the floor, and letting them sit for a few hours to air out and relax. Then I fluffed them by handfuls, like really working each chunk with my fingers until it was soft again. I also found that the filling shifts a lot, so I started unzipping the cover and just manually redistributing the foam every couple of weeks. It's not perfect and it takes patience, but I got my pillow usable again without buying a new one. Just skip the dryer completely from now on.

Ugh, thats brutal! Sounds like you got punked by a DIY hack that was actually a pillow sabotage tutorial. At this point just duct tape that thing to a brick and call it a "sculptural neck support" lol.
