Hit 500 demo signups in a month and my first thought was 'this is a trap'

We ran a simple free webinar about phishing red flags last Tuesday, threw $50 in LinkedIn ads at it, and somehow 500 people signed up from just two posts, which I'm pretty sure means someone shared it on a deal forum or my tracking pixel is lying to me, so has anyone else had a sudden spike that turned out to be real?

My buddy Marcus runs a small IT shop and once got 300 signups for a free security checklist overnight. He spent the whole weekend convinced it was bots or a scam, even checked his analytics like five times. Turned out a guy from a local business group posted his link in a Slack channel with like 2,000 members. Real people showed up, mostly small business owners, and he closed four decent clients from it. Point is, sometimes the spike is just real people actually wanting the free thing you made.
