Overheard a sales call about 'zero trust' that made me rethink our content

I was grabbing coffee yesterday and the person next to me was on a loud sales call. They kept saying 'zero trust' but then just listed basic firewall features. It hit me that our own blog posts might be doing the same thing, using buzzwords without really explaining the 'why' for a small business owner. I went back and rewrote a piece about network segmentation to focus on protecting client data instead of just the tech. Has anyone else had a moment where real talk made you change your marketing copy?

Actually, bad copy can do real harm by making a business seem out of touch. It's worth fixing even if the direct sales impact isn't obvious.

Okay but "real talk made you change your marketing copy"? That feels a bit much. It's just a blog post. Most small business owners I know just want to know if the thing works and what it costs. They glaze over at "zero trust" anyway. The sales guy was probably just bad at his job. I doubt your old post was causing any real harm.

Honestly my friend lost a client over jargon-filled web copy, which kinda proves @taylor.sean's point. Tbh the customer just said it felt like we were hiding something.
