The RSA booth mishap that killed our demo script for good

I was in San Francisco at RSA 2019, mid-live demo, and the wifi dropped right as the CISO from a bank asked about our incident response flow. We froze for a full two minutes while the backup hotspot loaded. Has anyone else ditched the flashy demo and gone with a printed one-pager at their booth?

Ditched the flashy demo after the same thing happened to me at a smaller security conference. I used to swear by the live walkthrough, thought a printed page looked lazy. But after the wifi tanked right as a big prospect asked about our data retention, I just handed him the one-pager and talked him through it. Honestly, that conversation went better than any scripted demo I'd done all day. He could follow along at his own pace and circle stuff to ask me about later. Now I bring both, but I lead with the paper and only fire up the laptop if someone really wants to see the tool.
