Warning: A potential customer called our security webinar 'scary and confusing'
We ran a webinar on ransomware threats for small businesses last quarter. After the event, a prospect from Austin emailed me directly and wrote, 'It felt like a horror movie, not a solution.' That hit hard. We changed our next webinar to focus 70% on clear prevention steps and only 30% on threat details. The sign-up rate doubled. Has anyone else had to tone down the 'fear factor' in their content to actually connect?

Fear sells, but trust builds the real business.

Totally see that. It's like those home security ads that just show shadowy figures trying doorknobs all night. Scares you, but doesn't tell you what lock to actually buy. People shut down when it's all fear, they need the simple "do this" steps to feel in control again.

That "shadowy figures trying doorknobs" thing is so spot on lol. It reminds me of this terrible ad for a car alarm that just played a constant loop of breaking glass and sirens. My neighbor had it and it went off every night for a week, scared the hell out of my cat but never actually told you what the product was.
