Watching my kid's soccer game made me rethink our entire demo script
I was at the field in Portland last Saturday and overheard a parent explaining the offside rule to another parent using simple terms and hand gestures. I realized our product demos sound like we're explaining quantum physics to someone who just wants to know if the ball is in or out. We switched to a three-step explanation at our next webinar and saw a 40% increase in qualified leads. How do you simplify complex features without sounding like you're dumbing it down?

Totally get that. We used to list every sensor in our security system. Now we just say it watches the doors and windows like a quiet neighbor. People don't care about the tech specs, they just want to know their stuff is safe. Pick the one thing it does that fixes a headache and talk about that. The rest is just background noise.

Yeah, that quiet neighbor line from @leo_fisher is perfect. We did the same thing with our app's backup feature, just started calling it the "undo button for mistakes" and people got it right away.

Tried framing features as solutions to one specific, annoying problem. Like, we stopped explaining our search algorithm and just showed how it finds a lost file in three clicks.
