Been folding fitted sheets wrong for 30 years, a hotel maid set me straight last weekend

Honestly, I always thought I was some kind of sheet-folding genius just wadding it into a ball and shoving it in the linen closet. But last Saturday, I was crashing at my buddy's place in Pittsburgh and his mom, who cleans hotels, watched me struggle with a corner. She grabbed it out of my hands and showed me this trick where you tuck the corners into each other and fold it flat like a normal rectangle. It took like 45 seconds and it actually came out looking like a real folded sheet, not a wrinkled blob. I felt like a complete idiot standing there with my mouth open. Has anyone else had a simple life skill just totally wreck their old way of doing things?

Oh man, that "tuck the corners into each other" thing blew my mind too when I figured it out about a year ago. I was watching a YouTube video late one night, not even looking for sheet folding tips, and the lady just did it so smooth like it was obvious. I had to rewind it three times because I couldn't believe my eyes. Now I actually look forward to laundry day just so I can show off my new skill to my wife, who still just wads her sheets up like a monster.

See, I gotta be the weird one here because I actually prefer the chaos of a wadded up sheet. I mean, maybe it's just me, but there's something kind of cozy about pulling a wrinkled mess out of the closet and just throwing it on the bed. The corners never stay tucked in my drawers anyway, so why spend the extra time making a perfect square when it's just gonna get all twisted up by morning? Plus I've tried that method a few times and I always end up with a corner popping loose halfway through and I just stand there frustrated holding a sheet that looks like a failed origami project. My wife calls me a monster too, fair enough.
