Had to pick between a gas dryer and a heat pump dryer for my tiny laundry closet
I went with the heat pump one because it doesn't need a vent (my closet has no outside wall) but it takes like 90 minutes to dry a single load. Has anyone else dealt with these slow drying times or is my unit just bad?

Wait, are you sure you picked a heat pump dryer and not a regular ventless condenser one? I ask because a lot of people mix those two up, and a straight condenser dryer can take way longer and use more energy than a heat pump model. The heat pump ones are usually slower than gas but 90 minutes for a single load sounds more like a condenser issue or maybe your load is super heavy. Also, is your lint filter clean and are you overfilling the drum? That can really slow things down.

Honestly I used to think all ventless dryers were basically the same but reading this totally changed my mind. I grabbed a regular condenser model thinking I was being smart and now I'm sitting here waiting forever for my towels to finish. Definitely gonna swap mine out for a heat pump one after hearing this.

Oh man, I feel you on this one. @the_emery is right though, people mix up heat pump ventless and regular condenser models all the time. I made the exact same mistake last year. Got a regular condenser dryer thinking I was saving money and my jeans took like two hours and still felt damp. Pure misery. Swapped to a heat pump one a few months back and it was night and day. Still slower than a gas dryer but nothing like that torture with my old one. Your towels will thank you when you finally switch.
