I finally went to that quiet car on Amtrak and it was louder than the regular cars lol

Took the train from Chicago to St. Louis last weekend and decided to try the quiet car since everyone online raves about it. Man, what a joke. Had a guy two rows up taking a work call for 20 minutes, a lady crinkling her chip bag like she was making art, and someone's phone alarm went off three times before they turned it off. The regular car I usually sit in? People just mind their own business and it's way more chill. Anyone else think the quiet car is actually worse?

I think the guy on the call was probably breaking the rules but Amtrak never enforces them... The crinkling bag thing though is just normal train noise lol. Quiet car expectations are just too high most of the time.

Wait, Amtrak has quiet cars? I thought those were only on the Northeast Corridor.

Nah they’re on lots of routes. I rode one from Chicago to St. Louis.
