My brother called me out on a habit I never noticed

I was complaining to my brother about how my kids always interrupt me mid sentence. He just looked at me and said "you do that too, you know, you cut me off all the time." It hit different because he was totally right, I do it without even realizing. Been trying for two weeks now to actually let people finish talking before I jump in. Anyone else have someone point out a pet peeve you were guilty of yourself?

That timing thing hits different though. Makes you realize how bad it actually is when you see the numbers. Honestly feel like half of relationships is just learning to shut up and let the other person finish.

My wife hit me with the same thing about interrupting about three years ago. Said I cut her off so often she started timing how fast I'd jump in mid-sentence. The record was like 1.7 seconds. Now I basically have to sit on my hands and bite my tongue just to let her get a full thought out, feels like I'm in some kind of conversation boot camp.
