At my office in Austin, I picked the stairwell over the elevator to avoid small talk with Dave from accounting, figuring 11 floors was a solid workout. Halfway up, my calf cramped up and I had to stop on a landing for five minutes, texting my coworker to bring me a water bottle from the vending machine. Has anyone else made a 'smart' choice that backfired harder than this?

That stairwell probably felt like a smart move right up until your leg gave out on you. The real kicker is now Dave from accounting probably heard about your struggle and is gonna bring it up every single time you two pass each other. Next time just take the elevator and fake a phone call, way less pain and way less office gossip fuel.
