The grocery cart debate: do you put it back or leave it in the corral? I switched sides last week

I used to always leave my cart in the return corral, even if it was across the lot, because my dad drilled that into me. But last Tuesday at the Safeway on 12th St, a guy with a broken leg asked me to grab his cart from the corral so he could use it, and now I see the value in leaving it closer to the entrance for folks who need it. So which side are you on, and has your stance ever flipped because of a random encounter like that?
