The grocery store self checkout took 45 minutes for 12 items
Ngl, I walked into the local Piggly Wiggly thinking I'd be out in 10 minutes but the machine kept freezing every time I scanned a bag of oranges. Ended up waiting for an employee to reset it three times before I could even pay. Has anyone else had a self checkout run just completely wreck your whole afternoon?

The Piggly Wiggly on Main Street has a self checkout that will literally freeze if you look at it wrong. Last week I scanned a pack of hot dogs and it just died for a full five minutes while the employee was helping some guy find pickles. I ended up just leaving everything there and walking out.

Just died for a full five minutes" - yeah that sounds about right for Piggly Wiggly. @noahmartin, next time just hit the cancel button hard three times fast. That usually kicks those old machines back to life. The employees there know the trick too but they never tell anyone because they'd rather not deal with it. I've gotten to where I only use that self checkout if I've got like three items and I'm in a hurry. Otherwise I just wait for the regular line and let someone else deal with the headache.

I mean, "just died for a full five minutes" is practically the Piggly Wiggly self checkout's version of a nap. @noahmartin you probably looked at that hot dog pack with too much confidence, these machines sense fear and overconfidence. I once had one freeze up on me because I put my reusable bag in the bagging area too fast, and I just stood there like an idiot holding a loaf of bread.
