Update: Tried leaving my phone in the car during my lunch break

I always got annoyed with myself scrolling through Instagram for 30 minutes and then feeling groggy. On Friday I left my phone locked in the glovebox, sat on a bench by the post office loading dock, and just watched people. Ended up actually feeling relaxed for the first time in weeks. Has anyone else tried something like this?

Does it feel weird at first not having it?

Man I just stuck mine in the center console of my car the first week or so... that way it was still there if I needed it but out of sight so I wouldn't keep grabbing for it. After a few days the phantom pocket pats stopped and I just left it there for good. The thing that really helped was keeping my phone in my other pocket so that hand had something to do when I was sitting down. It tricks your brain into not noticing the empty space as much. By week two I had to really think about where I even put it last.

lol yeah it's weird in such a specific way nobody talks about. @michael_coleman10 the first time you reach over to grab it from the passenger seat or whatever spot you always left it and your hand just hits air, that's a weird moment. or when you're sitting down and you instinctively pat your pocket where you used to keep it and there's nothing there. it's like missing a phantom limb in slow motion for like a week. but then your brain just rewires and you stop even thinking about it.
