Vent: My friend's blunt text about my meetings changed how I run them
Last month my buddy in Phoenix finally said, 'dude, your agenda is just a list of topics, not a plan.' I was sending out the same 5 bullet points every Monday and wondering why people zoned out. He told me to add a time limit and a decision or outcome for each item. I tried it on our Tuesday catch-up with 6 people, and I mean, it was wild how much faster we got through stuff. Now I put 'by the end of this call we will pick a date' instead of 'discuss the event.' Has anyone else gotten feedback that made you totally redo your whole meeting format? What else works for keeping people on track?
