A guy at the farmers market changed how I think about my kraut
I was selling some jars in Portland last weekend, and this older dude picked one up and just said 'your brine is cloudy, that's good character.' I mean, I'd always stressed about getting it crystal clear. Has anyone else had a moment like that where a simple comment flipped your whole approach?

Cloudy brine is good character" is such a freeing idea. It makes me wonder what other "flaws" we stress over are actually signs of real, hands-on work. That guy probably saw your kraut and knew it was alive and fermenting properly, not just sitting on a shelf.

Man, that whole idea hits home. I once had a neighbor freak out over the "dust" on my homemade pickles. I had to explain it was just dead yeast, a sign they were actually doing something in there. We get so used to factory clean food that real process looks wrong.

Yeah, that reminds me of stressing over perfect sourdough scoring until someone called my lopsided loaf "honest bread.
