My sourdough starter used to live in a closet, now it's on the kitchen counter
Switched after reading a book from the library that argued starters need to see daily life to develop character. Anyone else keep theirs out in the open?

That library book author, did they mention if a starter watching you burn toast counts as building character?

Honestly I used to think the whole "builds character" thing was just something people said to make hard times sound good. But going through a couple really rough patches at work last year, like actually failing at stuff I thought I'd be good at, it did shift how I handle pressure. I'm way less likely to panic now and more focused on just fixing the problem. So yeah, it changed me in a real way.
