Hit 50,000 pounds of iron poured this morning
Been keeping track of my pours for years, never really thought about the total. Pulled the logbook and added it up, hit 50,000 pounds exactly. What milestone numbers have you guys stumbled on in your foundry work?

Read somewhere that hitting these kinds of numbers is like climbing a mountain where every pour is another step. 50,000 pounds is a whole lot of metal, that's for sure. I always wonder how many hours that represents with the setup and cleanup and all that. Must feel pretty solid to see it all added up like that.

That mountain analogy kinda forgets the scrap rate though...

Man it's wild how we can track these big numbers without even realizing it until we look back. I mean that's kind of how life works in general, right? You don't notice the little steps you take every day until one day you add them up and realize you've climbed a whole dang staircase. Like my partner keeps a log of how many loaves of bread they've baked from scratch and it's up over 200 now and they had no idea until they counted. It's funny how these milestones sneak up on you when you're just focused on doing the work. Makes you wonder what else we're accumulating in the background that we never bother to tally up.
