My home stair railing fix with foundry metal
I had this wobbly wooden railing on my home stairs that drove me nuts. So I grabbed some spare aluminum from work that was gonna get tossed. Fired up my backyard forge to melt and cast new parts. Bending the hot metal without the shop press was a real pain. Ended up using a vise and some elbow grease to get the shape right. It's rock solid now and has a cool industrial look. What kind of home stuff have you guys made with foundry know-how?

Saw a buddy cast a new door handle out of bronze once. He burned himself pretty good pouring the metal but refused to go to a doctor (typical). Thing weighed a ton but never broke.

Aloe vera worked for me after a metal burn, why not try it?

How bad was this burn really? Metal pours are hot, but most DIYers know to handle the heat. Refusing medical care is often about avoiding the hassle more than the cost. A heavy door handle might be overkill, but at least it won't break. Burns heal, but a broken handle is forever annoying.
