Shoutout to the old timer who told me to wear a respirator every day in the pour pit

Back when I started 5 years ago at Acme Foundry in Cleveland, this crusty guy named Frank kept getting on my case about wearing my respirator on the floor. I thought he was just being dramatic. Figured I'd get used to the fumes. Fast forward to last year - I started getting this cough that wouldn't quit. Doctor says I got early signs of lung scarring from the silica and metal dust. Now I'm on an inhaler and Frank's been gone 2 years. Wish I'd listened sooner. Anyone else got a mentor who pushed safety gear that you brushed off at first?

@dianaanderson what do you think the real answers are then?

Respectfully disagree. Modern respirators aren't the only answer.

@dianaanderson I hear you but modern respirators are definitely better than nothing, Frank was right about that.
