Finally found a way to fix that sticky drawer on my 1920s dresser

I was about to sand the whole thing down, but my neighbor said to try rubbing a bar of plain soap on the wooden runners. I used a cheap bar of Ivory soap and just ran it along the tracks. The drawer slides like new now, no sanding needed. Has anyone else tried this trick on old furniture?

Works great on wooden windows too, right? Ever try it on a sticking door?

Honestly, I wish I'd known that before I sanded my whole dresser into a toothpick, @gavinwells.

Yeah, I used to think you needed to go at it with heavy grit for everything. Seeing what happened to @elizabethg85's dresser totally changed my mind on that. Light touch is key for most fixes.
