Small win with a stubborn milk paint removal job.

Client brought in a chair covered in old milk paint that was chipping badly. Scraping was taking forever and risking the wood. Remembered an old timer mentioning vinegar and heat. Gentle heat with a hair dryer and a vinegar soak loosened it right up.

Isn't that vinegar method just risking more damage to the wood? Acid and heat sound like a great way to dry out the grain or leave stains you can't fix later. I'd stick with a proper chemical stripper made for the job, it's controlled and predictable.

Tried the vinegar trick on a pine dresser and it dried out the wood so bad! Now I only use chemical strippers for control. You're right, it's too risky!

Ever try the vinegar thing and end up wondering if it ruined the wood or if you're just bad at this? Asking for a friend.
