Hot take: Salons skipping sanitizer between clients are reckless.

I saw it happen at a shop down the street. It's basic safety and they're ignoring it.

But seriously, how big of a deal is it really. We touch door handles and gas pumps all day that never get wiped down. A little bit of germs never hurt anyone, it probably builds up your immune system. Feels like people are just looking for things to get upset about now. If the place looks clean overall, a quick spray miss seems like a tiny thing. The risk of actually getting sick from it has to be super low.

Watched my old barber drop his clippers on the floor once and just pick them right back up like nothing happened. That visual stuck with me more than anything, just grease and hair all over that linoleum. Made me super aware of the little things, like if they're not cleaning the obvious stuff, what else are they skipping. Started going to a place that keeps their tools in little blue jars of that barbicide stuff right where you can see it. Somehow that tiny change made the whole room feel cleaner, even if the decor was older. Funny how one bad move can make you lose all trust in a second.

My friend Lisa saw her old nail tech pull a dirty file from a drawer, and @blair_martin's story totally explains why she found a new spot.

Honestly once I started actually watching what my nail lady was doing with her tools, I realized it's worth it to just bring your own file and buffer to appointments. That way you know for sure nothing sketchy is happening, and most techs are totally cool with it if you hand it to them. Have you ever thought about just buying a cheap set from the drugstore to keep in your bag?
